Is cannabis a legal product in the Virgin Islands, United States? CBD and its products have been legalized in areas like St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix. The regulations and rules surrounding medical marijuana use in the areas above is yet to be approved. Due to this shortcoming, medical marijuana dispensaries have not yet opened. It is important to note that recreational cannabis is still illegal in USVI, but the legalization process is underway. However, possession of recreational marijuana under 10z was also decriminalized and the authorities typically confiscate it and fine you. Cannabis in the USVI was decriminalized in 2014.

Governor Albert Brian Jr legalized medical marijuana in 2019. However, medical marijuana is not yet available in the USVI. Medicinal cannabis will be available once Governor Brian has nominated enough members to the Virgin Islands Cannabis Advisory Board to reach a quorum. The cannabis advisory board hopes to achieve a quorum by June or July of 2022. You can find the top rated St Thomas Weed Dispensary on this page.

Although the VI Cannabis Advisory Board has not reached quorum, it has to come up with a couple of regulations on the use of medical marijuana. The cost of medical cards for Virgin Island residents will set them back up to $50 annually once it hits the dispensaries. If a visitor wishes to use the medical cannabis in US VI, they'll be required to get a temporary medical marijuana card. Tourist medical cards will cost way more than resident cards, and they will go for:$50 for 5 days, $75 for 10 days, and $100 for 30 days.

A resident of the United States, Virgin Islands who has a medical cannabis card will be allowed to grow 12 marijuana plants on their private land. It is important to note that medical marijuana cards from other jurisdictions outside the Virgin Islands will not be honored. It is not likely that recreational marijuana will become legal in their USVI anytime soon. Decriminalization does not necessarily mean that recreational marijuana can be used legally. If you are caught in possession of cannabis in the Virgin Islands, there are penalties that you can be subjected to.  You can get medical Virgin Islands Cannabis on this site.

The penalty for possessing more than 10 oz is stiffer and could attract a larger fine or/and jail time. Minors who are caught with any amount of cannabis will be mandated to undergo a drug awareness program. The penalties for smuggling or growing marijuana are still quite stiff compared to the others. On the other hand, cannabidiol is legal in the USVI and can be bought in St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix.
